Minutes: Barb Grenga, FACS teacher; Cicero-North Syracuse HS who has recently been awarded an administrative degree presented “ APPR for the FACS Teacher at the February NYSAFCSE Meeng. She went over exactly what administrators were being trained to watch for. Rosanne took careful notes and presented the same informaon to our group.
Handouts were provided. Lori Johnson, presented what she has learned from APL Classroom Management training. Handouts were provided and a PowerPoint was sent out in email.
NYSAFCSE award forms were handed out and Peggy sent out an email with the list of NYSAFCSE members who were eligible. Peggy discussed the need for us all to advocate for FACS programs and the lack of FACS teachers available to replace retirees. The average age of a FACS teacher is 48. There are 8+ teachers in our three county area rering in the next few years—the state graduated 9 FACS teachers last year. It would be very easy to an unemployed teacher to recerfy in FACS and be working! Teachers should be leaving this info in their sub folders and pung the word out through social media.
